Designer Seth Luisi announced that there are seven different North African themed maps, including the redesigned SOCOM II: U.S. Navy SEALs famous "Crossroads". Slant Six recently confirmed that two other classic SOCOM II maps, "Desert Glory" and "Frostfire" are to be included as well. The remaining maps are going to be brand new, and to date three more maps have been announced; "Urban Wasteland," "Quarantine (formerly Viral Lab)," and "Kasbah." Each map allows for up to seven different game modes. Slant Six has no plans at this time to include vehicles as it wants the maps to be more "intimate" instead of larger styled maps of SOCOM 3.[citation needed] The game will have a lobby system similar to SOCOM II and SOCOM 3, with games consisting of ranked and unranked matches. An auto match-making system will be included in addition to the classic briefing room and custom game set-up as seen in previous SOCOM titles. The game will support a party system, allowing for players to form a team with their friends and join an online game. Clan support will also be in-depth, with team tournaments and clan ladders rewarding top players with different weapons and game items. Users being able to access and manage their clan from SOCOM.com. The gameplay have also have several upgrades from previous installments. Players will be able to choose between the classic view or a brand new over-the-shoulder view. The game will support SIXAXIS features for an advanced cover system. For example, if your head is exposed while against a wall, tilt the controller downwards and your character will lower his head. Other new features include a melee knife attack for close-quarters combat as well as a new sprint feature. - source wikipedia
